As with all ministries in Covenant Life Community Church, the youth ministry exists to treasure, proclaim, and grow in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Pursue seeks to shape maturing teens into young adults who love and worship Jesus Christ by laying aside every weight and running the race with endurance.
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.” (Hebrews 12:1)

The Role of Parents
To facilitate the training of the youth, parents are equipped to effectively disciple their teens, with the help of the church community. Rather than parents surrendering their role to a youth pastor, parents are encouraged to be involved in all youth activities and to be the primary means of grace in their children's lives. This does not mean that parents must attend all youth activities. Involvement will certainly include some parental attendance, but awareness of their youth’s participation, a knowledge of the teachings presented, and regular interaction with their youth is needed to maintain a good relationship and fulfill their responsibility to steward their own child.
With this in mind, we prefer to describe Pursue as a “Parent-Involved” youth group. This means that parents are welcome at every event and are encouraged to take part in planning, activities, and discussions. This does not mean that parents must attend every event, or that each event must be organized in such a way that parental participation is required. Our goal is parental involvement in the life of their son or daughter within the context of biblical fellowship and instruction amongst other parents and youth. We recognize that there will be differing levels of attendance based upon the nature of the event and the schedules of each of the participating families.
